Stakeout, 2013

Stakeout is a short film I created for my final year animation project at QUT. All aspects of this film were completed by myself, from modelling and texturing, to lighting and rendering.

A car pulls into what seems like an empty car park, as a last-ditch effort to lose the pursuing cops.
He doesn't realise at the time but another undercover police car is already there, waiting.

This was my second project using Blender (open source 3D program). I wanted to show off what this all in one, free program could do. Post production was completed using Adobe After Effects, animorphic lens flares were added and several render layers were composited together. I worked in passes for this project, enabling me to adjust each layer individually and to my liking.

This project helped me choose which role I would focus on in future, because I couldn't make my mind up prior to this project.
Now I know that I enjoy modeling the most and it's by far my strongest skill in animation.

Both cars were modelled off my Dad and my Brother's newly restored cars, the white being a 1969 Mustang Fastback and the olive green a 1970 Valiant VG.  I applied the same paint scheme they were planning for when they completed their cars.
